About Light Therapies
Unlocking The Healing Power of Light

"Light is the most powerful agent in the universe, and it is the most effective means of healing."
- Niels Ryberg Finsen - Nobel Prize in Medicine 1931.
Light Therapies (Phototherapies) have been in use to create outstanding treatment results for hundreds of years. They have had a mixed reception, as the pioneers of this field were working in a time before scientific concepts of Photobiology had developed, therefore they. were often classified as "Vitalism" (Which is heresy to mainstream science).
After a "dark period from 1930s to the 1990s when they were aggressively "debunked" and supressed by mainstream policies, they have experienced an intense resurgence with recent scientific investigations and publications. Perhaps best illustrated by this quote:
" No other form of energy can target a particular area of the body like light can. Light is the sharpest of tools."

- Andrew Huberman (a current neuroscientist, science commentator and popular podcaster)
By harnessing the power of specific wavelengths of light we can create deliberate physiological and psychological responses.
These include:
-
Enhanced cellular function. Light exposure has been shown to stimulate mitochondrial activity, leading to increased production of ATP (adenosine triphosphate). This boosts cellular energy and can help speed up healing, reduce inflammation, and improve overall cellular function.
-
Pain Relief. Light therapy is an effective, non-toxic, non-invasive option for pain relief. By reducing inflammation, and promoting tissue repair, it can alleviate both acute and chronic pain, in conditions such as arthritis, tendonitis, muscle spasm, swelling and bruising.
-
Wound Healing. Studies have shown that light therapy can accelerate the healing of wounds and injuries. By increasing blood circulation and stimulating the production of new cells, phototherapy can help speed up the recovery process for cuts, burns, surgical wounds, and traumatic wounds.
-
Enhanced organ function. Light is an excellent complimentary (to medicine) modality when there are problems with specific organs. It can be used in a targeted fashion to reduce pain, and inflammation, and to induce detoxification, and repair. Examples include gut disorders such as Irritable Bowel Syndrome and Diverticulitis, Liver and gallbladder pain, Cardiac pain, Kidney pain, Adrenal fatigue, Spleen inflammation (often present in chronic fatigue), Pancreas inflammation (in diabetes and pancreatitis), Thymus inflammation (in COVID recovery, post-viral fatigue, and recurrent chest infections), Brain fog.
-
Stress relief and Mental Health improvement. Light therapy has been demonstrated to relieve Seasonal Affective Disorder, by helping regulate circadian rhythms and boost production of Serotonin (the "feel-good" hormone). What is less known is that it can been used to rapidly improve states of depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress. It reduces ruminative thought, and negative thinking: People frequently report that they are literally feeling "lighter".
-
Relaxation and Sleep regulation.
Light exposure plays a crucial role in regulating our sleep-wake cycles. It can help reset the circadian rhythms leading to improved sleep quality and overall wellbeing.

"If you want to find the secrets of the universe, think in terms of energy, frequency and vibration".
- Nikola Tesla.
In conclusion, Light Therapies offer a versatile and effective approach to enhancing our health and wellbeing. From pain relief to improved energy, to mental clarity and well-being, the healing power of light is an often-overlooked resource that everybody can benefit from.

At Back In Harmony, I have been exploring these therapies for many years. The rapid and seamless results in all manner of conditions have kept me fascinated with this work.
